It is mentioned in the scriptures that each deity is different from each other and different mantras have been described to please them. Sharadiya Navratri is starting from 26 September 2022. During these 9 days, nine Siddha forms of Maa Durga are duly worshipped. They are also prayed for happiness, prosperity and family welfare. In these 9 days, Shailputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandmata, Katyayani, Kalratri, Mahagauri and Siddhidatri will be worshiped in the form of Goddess Durga. Let us know the importance of all the goddesses and the mantra to please them.
1.Mata Shailputri
Mata Shailputri is worshiped on the first day of Navratri. She was named Shailputri because of her birth stone. She is also the wife of Lord Shankar in the form of Parvati. Her vehicle is a bull and she holds a trident in her right hand and a lotus in her left. The mantra to please them is-
Vande desiredlabhay, Chandradhakritshekharam.
Vrusharudhana Shooldharan, Shailputrin Yashaswinim.
2. Goddess Brahmacharini
Goddess Brahmacharini is worshiped on the second day of Durga Puja. Maa Brahmacharini holds a lotus in one hand and a kamandal in the other. According to the scriptures, Mother Brahmacharini did hard penance for thousands of years, after which she was named Tapashcharini or Brahmacharini. By worshiping him duly, all the troubles of the devotees are removed. The mantra to please them is-
Dadhana Karpadmabhayam, Akshamalakamandalu.
Devi Prasidatu Mayi, Brahmacharinyanuttama.
3. Goddess Chandraghanta
Chandraghanta Devi is duly worshiped on the third day of Navratri festival. There is a crescent moon sitting on her head and she holds khadak, trident, donkey, bow arrow, lotus etc. in her hands. Worshiping Chandraghanta Devi brings mental and inner peace. Also the devotees get a lot of benefits. The mantra for worshiping the mother is-
Pindjapravararuda, Chandakopastrakaryuta.
Prasadam Tanute Mahayam, Chandraghanti Vishruta.
4.Devi Kushmanda
Mata Kushmanda is worshiped on the fourth day of Shardiya Navratri. According to legends, when there was darkness in the universe, Mother Durga created the universe in this form. That is why she is known as Kushmanda. Goddess Kushmanda has eight arms and rides a lion. Chakra, mace, bow, kamandal, bow arrow and lotus are installed in all the arms. The mantra to please the goddess is-
Surasampornakalasham, Rudhiraplutmev Ch.
In Dadhana Hastapadmabhayam, Kushmanda in Shubhadastu.
5. Goddess Skandmata
Goddess Skandmata is worshiped on the fifth day of Navratri festival. Skandmata is the mother of Kartikeya, the son of Lord Shiva. Mother has four arms. In one hand he holds his son Kartikeya, in the other three hands he holds a lotus flower, varada mudra and a white lotus. Goddess Skandmata rides a lion and worshiping her removes all the troubles. The mantra to please them is-
Thronegata nityam, Padmashritkaradvaya.
Shubhdastu Sada Devi, Skandmata Yashaswini.
6. Goddess Katyayani
Maa Katyayani is worshiped on the sixth day of Durga Puja. According to the beliefs, worshiping them brings wealth, opulence and salvation. His complexion is as bright as gold and has four arms. Abhaya Mudra, Vara Mudra, Khadga and lotus flower are adorned in his hands. Mata Katyayani rides a lion and the mantra to please her is-
Chandrahasojjwalkara, Shardulvaravahana.
Katyayani Shubham Dadyat, Goddess Demonic.
7. Goddess Kalratri
Maa Kalratri is worshiped on the seventh day of Navratri. He is known to destroy all kinds of demonic forces. Maa Kalratri has three eyes and four arms. Mother holds Khadga, iron weapon, Abhaya Mudra and Vara Mudra in her hands. By worshiping them, a person gets rid of all kinds of problems. Mantra to please them-
Ekaveni Japakarna, full naked virtuousness.
Lamboshthi Karnikakarni, TailabhyaktaSharini.
Vampadollasalloh, Latakantakabhushana.
Vardhanmoordhadhwaja Krishna, Kalratribhayankari.
8. Goddess Mahagauri
Goddess Mahagauri is duly worshiped on the eighth day of Navratri festival. The mother rides a bull and her color is also Gaur i.e. white. Their clothes are also of white color and they have four arms. Mother Mahagauri holds Abhaya Mudra, Trishul, Damru and Vara Mudra in all the four arms. Worshiping them removes all kinds of sorrows and pains and the mantra to please them is-
Shwete Vrushe Samarudha, Shwetambardhara Shuchih.
Mahagauri Shubham Dadyat, Mahadevpramoddad.
9. Goddess Siddhidatri
Mata Siddhidatri is duly worshiped on the ninth and last day of Navratri festival. Worshiping them leads to attainment of Riddhi-Siddhi and all the troubles are removed. Mother has four arms in which she holds lotus, chakra, mace and conch. Goddess Siddhidatri rides a lion and the mantra to please her is-
siddhagandharvayakshadhaiah, asurairamarairapi.
Sevyamana always bhuyat, siddhida siddhidayini.
